Prof. Meirav Aharon Gutman is an urban sociologist at the Technion’s Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning and a Senior Fellow at the Neaman Institute. She leads the Smart Social Strategy Lab, which focuses on social cartography and expanding the critical planning toolkit through technological innovation. Her research explores Israeli society, interethnic and religious dynamics in urban settings. Her book Standing on Their Own: On Urban Sociology and Mizrahiyut in Israel (Lamda / Ben-Gurion Institute) revisits narratives of Mizrahi marginalization and highlights the emergence of a Mizrahi middle class through urban and cultural case studies.
