Avner Ben-Zaken (born September 26, 1967) is an Israeli historian of science and public intellectual, known for his work on cross-cultural exchanges in early modern science. A former junior fellow at Harvard and current professor at Ono Academic College, he also chairs the Institute for Israeli Thought, which he co-founded in 2020. Through the institute, Ben-Zaken promotes structural reforms in Israel, including district-based elections, a formal constitution, and a unified civic identity. He led the development of the “Israeli Covenant,” a proposed constitutional framework, and actively advocates for systemic change to prevent institutional collapse.
