Philippe Corcuff was born in 1960 in Oran, Algeria. He is reader of Political Science in Political Studies Institute of Lyon and member of the CERLIS laboratory (Research Centre on Social Links, UMR 8070, CNRS/Paris University/Sorbonne Nouvelle University). He is the author of, among others: La société de verre. Pour une éthique de la fragilité (Armand Colin, 2002), Bourdieu autrement (Textuel, 2003), Où est passée la critique sociale ? (La Découverte, 2012), Mes années Charlie et après ? (with Charb's cartoons, Textuel, 2015), Pour une spiritualité sans dieux (Textuel, 2016) and La grande confusion. Comment l’extrême droite gagne la bataille des idées (Textuel, 2021).
During the last forty years, he has crossed the left in the opposite direction of most of the members of his generation: from the social-democratic left to the anarchist left. He was columnist for the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo (2001-2004).
