Pierre Birnbaum is an emeritus professor at the University Paris 1. He published several books on the state theory and on the comparative analysis of contemporary jewish history. Among his recent books, one finds, La Leçon de Vichy (Le Seuil, 2019), Marcel Proust. L’adieu au monde juif? (Le Seuil, 2022) et Les larmes de l’histoire. De Kichinev à Pittsburgh. (Gallimard, 2022), to be published this fall by Columbia University Press.
